Quebec Immigrant Investor Program intake limit to be reached within weeks

The Ministry of Immigration and Cultural Communities of Quebec (MICC) has received over 560 immigrant investor applications since the quota of 2700 was announced on March 21, 2012. Once the limit has been reached, the program will be suspended until March 2013.

At the current pace, the quota for the Quebec Immigrant Investor Program is expected to be filled within weeks and currently it is the only Canadian option for immigrant investors.

The current minimum net worth requirement is CAD $1,600,000, while the required investment is CAD $800,000. Certified Immigration consultants and investor clients should act fast to to submit their files as soon as possible.

The Federal Immigrant Investor Program is currently suspended as its quota of 700 applications has been reached. Although, the quota is said to be reset on July 1, 2012, it is unlikely that the program will re-open in its current state.

Recently, the Canadian Finance Minister made an announcement for the start of negotiations with provincial government bodies for the creation of a more active immigrant investor program. Details are expected to be announced in July 2012.
